Large-Scale Land Acquisition and Household Farm Investment in Northern Ghana

Many studies have investigated the effects of large-scale land acquisition (LSLA) on livelihood, while LSLA by different actors investment decisions and levels largely gone without academic scrutiny. Consequently, information concerning implications is scarce in literature pertaining to policy. Drawing from 664 households selected through a multistage sampling technique, this study examined relationship between direct indirect exposure domestic foreign entities land-improving techniques. The results show bi-directional household farm investments. While dissipates some forms investments, reverse causality also possible where investments discourage entities. revealed that all land- yield-improving techniques, even presence high perception tenure security. Thus, provision legal ownership farmers can provide insurance for Government step up fertilizer subsidy program enable increase avoid further LSLA.
